Thanks! I have a leech locker for days of fishing. What is the best way to travel with live leeches?

For jigs 1/8oz or 1/4oz should be all you need. For hooks under a slip bobber I'd go with a #6.

I like to use red colored hooks when fishing live leeches

As others have said, you'll have better luck with live leeches. Not a ton of current in those lake with the exception of portage areas around rapids. I would start around moving water and then move out from there. Look for breaks to deeper water or other structure starting in about 8 feet of water and move deeper until you find them. Slip bobber, split shot and a leech on a #4 or #6 hook should do the trick. Good luck, keep an eye out for Moose! I saw two of them in that area last year.

Gulp leeches work, but you will most likely have better luck with real leeches if you are low in experience.

Hello. Preparing for a trip with my kids on Peterson and Kelly Lake. Hoping to catch some walleyes. Two questions. do you artificial leeches work? Or should I not bother with artificial bait? Also, is there much of a current moving through Kelly and Peterson In July? Thx!

Artificial leeches do work but they are best when used on a jig or some kind of trolled spinner that supply the action. If you're planning on doing any bobber fishing then go with live for sure.

Have bait dealer put them in plastic bag, shoot some oxygen and then keep wet and cool until camp. They will do fine, don't leave in lake at night with waves will work the top off locker. Good luck.
