+1 on the Albright. Also have used the Double Uni. But my go to now is the Modified Albright, think it is also called the Alberto Knot. Here is a video that makes it pretty easy to learn. Modified Albright "

I use the albright. Where in the boundary waters are you using lead core?

that is one of my salmon trolling lines.

It can be effective anywhere lake trout are holding deeper than your crankbaits run. There are other ways, but I prefer leadcore line over snapweights, bottom bouncers, three-ways, etc.

I hate tying a knot with two different types of line. If one of the lines is short enough, i.e. a leader, connect the two using a loop to loop connection. Tie a surgeon's loop on the end of each line and connect them together via the loops.

Check out this knot called the FG knot. It's bomber and pretty easy to do once you get the hang of it.

What knot does everybody like for mono to lead core and mono to braid

mono/flouro to braid: double uni quot.

mono/flouro to lead: willis knot. (this can be tricky. a stiffer mono or flouro will help as you feed into the empty sheath of the leadcore. The clipped sheath needs to be crisp and not frayed. If you fail a few times, or if the leader keeps poking out the side of the sheath, it's time to snip the end and start fresh.)

I like both of these as they cast and reel through the guides, through level winds and bails, and up onto the spool just fine. In some cases I'll use a swivel intead of the double uni on the braid setups.
