We are heading out of Little Indian Sioux the first of September. We will do a loop up to Beartrack then down to Oyster and head west. Will be out for eight days. Has anyone had any luck with pike in these areas? We’ve never pursued them before but now we are stocking up on spinners hoping to hook up.

For leaders just use Knot 2 Kinky or American Fishing Wire titanium leader wire and tie your own. These products are made to tie with a simple clinch knot and no crimp sleeve on the smaller sizes. They won't kink, you can get very fine wire and tie to small hardware. Definite game changer.

Wow, thanks for sharing. My son has been looking around and has picked up some of those very Meps. Quetico Mike has some good posts on line weight. However I’m not finding anything about poles. Are you using a musky type pole ? I’m thinking my medium weight I use for smallies and wallies won’t flip a spinner that size.

a medium rod should be fine for the mepps musky killers as they are not true musky size type spinners , now if casting spoons heavier than 1oz (like the 2 cleos in the pic) you would want a medium/hvy or a heavy musky type rod.
as for as line goes #12 mono is a good choice for targeting pike , i use #50 power pro braid on my heavy set ups. you also might as well pick up some titanium leaders #20-#30 12" if you dont want to spend the money on titanium leaders steel ones are fine too.

i've never traveled that area , but i'm sure running into pike shouldn,t be an issue.
what type of spinners you stocking up on ?
my 2 go to's are the mepps musky killers and a White(or what ever color u like) tandem blade (willow/colorado) spinnerbait 1oz add a 5" mongo grub and you got a $ set up ;)
add a chunk of meat(pic)
also bring in some 1oz+ spoons , great for casting some distance off of camp when you bored or to windy to get out.

I have always had luck with the F11 Firetiger. Trolling with this lure virtually guarantees landing a Pike

Oyster lake holds some decent Northerns, but hard to come by. Hustler Lake is full of 3-5 lb northerns. Lots of fun to catch. If you’re looking for trophy size pike, Shell would be the place to go.
