I use this clamp to attach to pretty much any canoe's thwart. Add double-socket arm and whatever cradle assembly fits your unit. Rock solid for any weight item. I'm always in the stern, which makes location much simpler.

Hey everyone. I currently don't own a canoe so I can't modify anything, like screw in a permanent mount. I'm using RAM mounts for my fish finder and transducer using their flexible arm (size C for the fish finder due to it being heavy and size B for the arm). I would love to use this same system to mount these on a canoe that I rent from an outfitter, using a clamp.

Is anyone using or does anyone know of a clamp that attaches securely to most canoes, that supports different size RAM balls? I see there is a brand called YakBastard that makes some clamps that look ideal, but I'm wondering if anyone has used anything else. RAM has some clamps of their own, but none that look like they'd fix really securely to a gunwale. Should I focus on mounting to a thwart instead? The only downside is if I'm sitting in front in a tandem, the front handle is a little far, but I'll have a 6" screen so I should still be able to see it decently well. And, it's possible that it might not get tight enough and slowly tilt/rotate down due to the weight of the fish finder.

Thanks very much!
