Did very well from early ice through Christmas. Was definitely slower in January and February. I got skunked last weekend fishing for rainbow and lakers. Excited to get to the BWCA to catch some Lakers and Brookies in a little over a week. Don't plan to put away the gear until the ice is too poor or trout season ends.

Mnpat: "The best ice fishing of the year is coming up soon. Long days warm temps and active fish. "

For those that have ice....we have none unless I head north at least an hour or two. But yes, late ice is great...if you have it. We went from good to no ice in 2 days

Didn't get out but two times. Just not enough ice for me. Went last Thursday, but had to search where we could get on. Been out on Mississippi chasing wally two times no luck. Ten sauger one day, skunked last Sunday under Pool 13 up by Clinton, IA. Water is still 33°.....ice flowing over the dam.

Had my best ice-fishing season in a long time this year. Lots of nice bluegills.

The gear is all put away until next year... spending a couple months in Florida. I like winter, but not 6 months worth!

I would suggest taking someone out with you that has fished the big river.
The rollers were down and ice kept breaking g and flowing down.Dodging ice most of day.

I'm hoping for one more outing. One of my favorite local spots has been a bad bite all winter and I'm thinking some run off may just fire it up for one parting shot.

Went out after some crappies last night. I'll continue to fish the ice up until ice out. With the warm temps in the Twin Cities we may not have long. Then it switches over to stream trout on the fly rod until opener in May

Fishing below those big rollers is intimidating. Never fished below muscatine. Dam.

Yeah lots of great trout fishing to be had up north still, but with walleye closed and warm temps for much of MN, I'm probably done ice fishing as well.

We're out on pool 2 up here in the twin cities. C&R only. The In-Depth Outdoors tv show on Fox Sports did an episode of open water walleye fishing a few weeks ago and it's been a zoo ever since. The trailer parking at the main DNR access in south saint paul was FULL this past weekend.

We are by Muscatine and got out quite a few times but it's not coming back out now. We had a few really good days on the ice including a tournament win. (it was a farm pond so nothing huge)

We fixed up my FIL's old jon boat and I really want to try using it for walleye on the big river but I've never been on a boat on the Miss yet. I've had it out once on a local lake just to make sure everything worked like it should and it did...

yes my equipment is put away , shacks off the lake back in the driveway.
me and my group had a little bit of a down season , only about 7 walleyes in that 18"-21" range with one #8-2 . caught a few pike , one went over 14lbs.
i dont do much crappie fishing myself , so on to soft water opener fishing.
