Has anyone made the switch from lead split shot to something non-toxic? What are you using? Tungsten? Tin? Something else? I’ve been looking for tungsten split shot with the little wings for easy removal. But I can’t find that type in tungsten. How do you remove them without the little wings? Do you have a split shot pliers? What kind?

I use tin for split shot because I don’t want the lead on my fingers. The tin is not as dense as lead so I use a slightly larger split shot.

I switched from lead to tungsten with my fly fishing split shot. They are just tiny round weights with a grove in them. To remove I guess I will cut the line.

Thank you. It sounds like tin might suit my needs best. I want to be able to reuse them so I can sacrifice size for being able to reuse. I asked the same question over on the gear thread and someone explained to me that tungsten doesn’t come with wings because it’s to brittle to bend it like that without breaking it.
