One of my first good BW fishing experiences was on Moosecamp. It was late May and was the first trip for my wife. The weather was pretty miserable. High in the 50's windy and raining. We made it to Moosecamp on day 2. While I was setting up camp I threw out a slip bobber with a leech under it. About 3:30 in the afternoon the bobber goes down. Reel it in. A 19" Walleye! That continued for a few hours. Had a great dinner! Almost made the cold and wet go away! Next day we wake up the sun comes out. We both throw out bobbers while we have breakfast. My wife gets her first fish ever! And it is the biggest Bluegill I have ever seen! At the time I didn't know how special this fish was! In retrospect I should have taken measurements of this Bluegill and let it swim. It was probably a 12" bull Male gill! I have a really crappy picture of it but that's it. Also that morning I landed a 21.5" smallie and more walleye all from this same campsite. It was so much fun doing so well from the comfort of a campsite. It's not that big of a lake so finding fish shouldn't be too hard. And they are definitely in there!

We daytripped in from Gun, saw a moose in the shallows of Bullet, and caught some walleyes on crankbaits along the south shore directly across from the Bullet portage--there were some weedbeds there.

Moosecamp is a fun lake to fish. All of the above I’ve experienced, walleyes, bass, bluegills on a slip bobber. Pike on spinners in the weedy northeast bay. It really is a fun lake.

It's been several years since we've been in Moosecamp, but we had a similar experience. We stayed one night & the only thing we caught were pike, which is fine with me, I love pike.

Checking in with the forum regarding early June fishing in Moosecamp Lake. We primarily fish for walleye and smallmouth, but occasionally troll and cast for northern also. I was in the area 3 years ago, but we spent most of our time on Gull and only passed through Moosecamp on the way out. Got skunked while passing through the barrel of Gun, but did catch some northern while casting and trolling when in Mooscamp heading for the river to Fourtown.
