That dog is pretty shaggy. She gets haircut normally but the groomers were all closed. She picks up a lot of thistles when her hair gets long and I have to pull them out or it them out. That was my first ever fly rod carp. They do pull hard. Thanks for all the comments. Hopefully everyone is getting some fish.

Not strong fighters but if that is all you find catching a few is not too bad. They can get five pounds or so. They have invaded the Columbia River and you can make some money on the bounty they have for them. There is a Colorado River pike minnow that gets five or six feet long.

A couple of months ago when it started looking like I would not be fishing in Quetico this year I decided I better start catching some bass close to home to make up for the lost Canada trip. I also decided I would make an effort to collect some good bass photos along the way. I got largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, black crappie, bluegill, carp and the Sacramento pike minnow. The only fish caught that was native to the water I caught it in was the Sacramento pike minnow. All the rest are imports. Here they are. Some nice shots and I had fun doing it. Hopefully Quetico next year.

Cyclone - I live near Sacramento so the pikeminnow is around. He was the original river predatory fish in this area. Eats a lot of salmon smolts and is thriving with the changes we have made to the rivers which is good for him but bad for salmon which have plenty of problems as it is.
Ohio - A waterproof point and shoot is good to have for shots like this. It will get wet sooner or later being that close to the water. If you can switch it to spot metering that helps. It will expose for the fish and not the background. I have an Olympus TG-5 but there are a lot of them out there. Put the strap around your wrist so you don’t drop it and watch it sink into Davey Jones’ locker. Lots of stories out there about cameras on the bottom of lakes. I have some stuff on the bottom of a few lakes but not a camera. A friend of mine has a pretty pricey rod and reel on the bottom of a lagoon in Mexico.
