colecudd: "Took a couple wrong routes before finding the right one! But overall wasnt too bad, couple Wet foot/leg pull overs in the bog And portages were over grown. Definitely worth it to catch those piranha bass! Anyone heading up there, stay on the west side of the bog right when you get to it."
For some years I tried to keep some of the portage cleared, but I haven't been there in a few years. I learned the hard way when I got to the pond. It looks better to go right but it leads nowhere. Left is the way. Eventually you have to paddle back toward the center of the pond and over a small beaver dam.

I really like the Risto Raps made by rapala and the super shad raps made by rapala. Another good lure is a Doctor spoon, and a Daredevil in red and white. Also try Mepps spinners in heavy cover. I hope to go fishing for some big pike up in Ontario this year, but I’m not holding my breath. Use a titanium leader and Suffix Spectra 20# line.

Also look into the Floating Magnum, and the Countdown Magnum lure made by Rapala. Great lures that are built to last.

Definitely make your focus for pike on Hustler. EP 14 is my BW favorite and we hit Hustler as much as we can for pike. The numbers are great and you will hook into the occasional 40+. A lot of great memories on Hustler.
Good luck!

colecudd: "Hey Everyone!

Heading into EP 14 the second week of July and base camping Lynx (Potentially Hustler if Lynx is too busy) in search of some great pike fishing. We will mainly be focusing on pike but want to fish for some eyes and bass as well. Any experience with panfish in this area? Any advice on general fishing in the area/lakes would be appreciated!

Whats your favorite lure to toss for the big pike?

Thanks! "

Overall a great trip, had to clear several fallen trees from Echo Trail at 430 am on the way in, but we made it and base camped on the northern most site of Lynx. Previous campers left a bunch of garbage around the site including a 5 gallon bucket with canned food in there that we packed out. Low water levels, thunderstorms and hot, humid weather made fishing a bit tough. Day tripped to Heritage, Hustler, Little Shell, and Shell. Unlike any other trip I have been on, we didn't catch many pike, 6 in the mid 20's. Plenty of smallies, rock bass, some walleye. Had the best luck at Heritage. The Hustler Campsite is one of the best I have seen! Our group bushwacked to Yoedler and spent the day there for an unbelievable day of fishing, I think there is more Largemouth in that lake than there is water, definitely made it worth the pain of getting back there. Also caught some very interesting looking perch, had a red tint to them wish I would have gotten a picture.

There are some decent pike in Lynx but You’ll have better luck on Shell. I‘ve caught several trophy pike there. Hustler has lots of pike with some nice size. If you want numbers head to Hustler. I mainly troll Rattlin Raps with much success.

Too bad about the pike fishing, but this heat must be affecting their metabolism. I fished Yodeler a few years ago and I barely put my lure in the water before those Bass were attacking it. They seemed almost like piranhas. How was journey into the lake?
