This guy has been guiding various hunts/fishing trips all over the planet. I went to school with him, and he's a personal friend. He has spent a fair amount of time guiding on Lake of the Woods. I think he had a place up there. Either way, Jim is a great guy, and I'm sure he can answer your questions.

Fishing LOW is something anyone who loves fishing should experience, IMHO. The potential is there for the walleye of a life time...priceless!

Has anyone done any charter fishing here in Minnesota? I was invited to a guided charter fishing trip on Lake of the Woods in early September for a few days and stay at a resort. It sounds fun catching some big fish in open water but the price just seems pretty steep, is it worth the cost?

That's kind of an individual's decision. Lots of factors to consider.

I've fished on Lake of the Woods four times and we had a guide each time. Without him, I think it would have been a struggle to find fish.

One thing about LOTW, you will catch lots of walleyes and anything else you're targeting, but your next cast could get you a trophy fish. I finally topped the 30" mark with a beautiful walleye in September 2013.

Whoa, Pete, that's a beast!
