Thanks. It's 1 1/4" PVC. The D cells fit almost perfectly without rattling. I haven't weighed it but the brackets are all aluminum. The batteries are obviously the heaviest part. (I would weigh it but don't have a small scale handy, lol).

I came across this older Impulse fishfinder (circa 1990) and wanted to come up with a canoe mount for it. The battery set up is 10 D-cells wired in series. They produced 16 volts out of the package, and the manual says the locator can run on 11 - 16 volts. After about 3 hours of constant use this weekend, they still read 15.57 volts, so I should be able to get a few days of a few hours each day use without changing batteries. I debated between something like this or using a 7 ah 12v lead acid battery that fits in a small ammo box. I like that all of this mounts to the thwart and will be smaller to pack.

I still need to clean it up a little by shortening the transducer cables and the pole on the transducer mount, but was happy with how it worked.
