I was on Tofte Lake on Friday and the water temp was 44 degrees. Imagine many of the deeper lakes still have some time before freezing...

This cook county website has a handful of live cams on GFT lakes— gunflint, seagull, bearskin, poplar, aspen all look open water. I’m sure some of the tiny shallower lakes might look a lil different? That site is https://www.visitcookcounty.com/community/gunflint-trail/

As of Saturday...trout, mink, kimball lakes didn’t even have any shoreline skim ice. However, a couple ponds in the 20 acre range were completely ice covered, as well as all beaver ponds. Heading up the arrowhead trail today, to see what the status is.

It'll be a little bit yet. Sun's too high in my opinion.

Kimball went from no ice, to 75% covered. And will most likely lock up tonight. Carrot and Shoe Lakes were 100% ice covered, with 3/4 inches along shoreline.

on Brule Lake/Nov 4.
ice by the landing/chopped into open water.
at 9 am the lake had a skim of ice...from an inch to two inches thick...
it disappeared by the early afternoon....
wind is a friend to ice breaking...but the wind on Brule come November is always a challenge to paddle in...
good luck/be safe.

I was hoping to squeeze in one more fishing day before the lakes freeze over. Does anyone have any recent updates?
