I’m having withdrawals- please post some pictures of fish caught in the BWCA or Quetico. GPS coordinates get bonus points- haha- this is a walleye I caught in the bald eagle/gabbro rapids in June 2017.

My favorite picture, because it was one of my Dad’s first Lakers. We took him on his first trip and said the fishing would be great...it’s not often when expectations are exceeded when fishing :)

Hurn Laker. May trip to Q about 10 days after ice out. Certain lakes we traveled through we would troll a Blue Shadrap as we paddled for next portage. It would take a while to cross a lake because of all the Lakers we were catching. They were everywhere!

I can't tell from the mouth, since your hand is in there, but that looks like a smallmouth buffalo fish? They are fun to catch, and I have caught them on spinners stream fishing for smallmouth bass.

Mid September 2020. My and my brother's first trip into the BWCA. We caught 25-30 (we soon lost count) 15 to 19 inch brook trout in 6 to 8 hours of fishing. I was igging with salted minnows and he was fly fishing. It was a stocked, brook trout only lake. They were spectacular.

View my brother's youtube clip "In Which Dwight and Warren Paddle the Boundary Waters and Find Brook Trout" for a snippet of the action. As my brother stated going in "The brook trout is our family fish"...but we had never encountered this many nor this size."

Here is one of several nice smallmouths my son caught in 2003. He was 8 at the time. The bronzebacks were thick here just before one of the portages. We were in Quetico on a father son trip.. just the two of us. I had taken several trips years before with the guys, but bit off a little (OK alot) more than we should have on this one for just us two (and with Clark being a young rookie). We did a nice loop from Moose Lake, Prairie Portage, Burke, Sunday, the meadows portages, Agnes, etc. The last day paddling back across Bayley Bay was a killer. Whitecaps and intense headwinds. I ended up in the bow paddling with all my might while I positioned Clark in the back to do the best he could. In hindsight we should have sat that blow out. We managed to snag a tow from Prairie Portage back to Moose. While this trip didn't "ruin" Clark, it could have. It is definitley a trip that gets better and better as the years have passed.

This fish was so much fun. I was fishing with another bwca.com-er in a strait with a little current that loaded with walleye and bass. In the distance was the roar of a waterfall. I cast a surface lure to a shoreline and a bass erupted under it. I missed the hit, so I reeled rapidly to recast, but the bass erupted a second time when the lure was halfway to the boat. So, I reeled frantically to recast and right beside the boat, the bass caught my lure yet again and this time it stuck. When you are connected to a fresh 19" bass with a yard of line, only the jolt and fury of a musky on a figure eight surpasses that. See how wet my shirt is? This bass did that. Note too how I stretch my elbow behind my head to get the bass as close to my body so you can get a good sense of its size.

One last bass. Like the two upthread with the arching backs, I like the shape of this fish too. Unlike the other two fish, this wish added weight by bowing its belly rather than its back.
