Hey Mike
I never got back to you regarding the Zulu rig
I picked up the essentials and brought them on my spring lake trout trip 2020.
The weather was warm all week and the smallmouth found their way to the shallows and I hammered them for hours and hours on West Pike lake.
The very first time I rigged up the Zulu, I decided to test it from shore and observe the action.
On my very first real cast with the Zulu I got a hit and the fight was on.
I reeled in my personal best Northern of 39 inches.
After that it was nonstop action on smallmouth everywhere I went.
Thanks for sharing this technique

No problem, I just enjoy trying to help people with their fishing in the great north woods! This offer is still valid if anybody wants to read any of the above articles. Good luck to everyone this year!

If you request some articles and you don't hear back from me within a day or two that just means I'm probably in the Boundary Waters and you should be hearing back from me in a couple of weeks.

You're welcome! Those are some awesome results, but not surprising. The Zulu rig has been by far the best smallmouth rig I have ever used in my life, just wish I would have discovered it earlier in my fishing career. I have literally caught 1000s of smallies on the Zulu rig.

If you like throwing topwater or have considered trying topwater for smallmouth, I have a new article out in the Boundary Waters Journal in the current Spring issue about using wake baits. It is the easiest topwater presentation I have ever used. So if anyone has never tried topwater fishing, or they are even a novice at fishing, wake bait fishing is for you. I use KVD 2.5 wake baits in the Natural Shad and the Chartreuse Sexy Shad.

I'm sure the wake baits and the Zulu rigs will bring many trophy smallmouth for you this year.

I am waiting to receive the spring issue and also expect delivery of both those wake baits within the next few days. My trip this year runs from May 24th to June 17th, I should hit the top water bite bullseye
I’ll be armed with the Zulu rig and plenty of top water baits"

Hi Mike, I killed the bass last May on the spinner bait from your top ten list. My nephew threw three different spinner baits with much less success. The next day the big hatch really shut things down, but the Zulu worked pretty well. I'd love to read your new top water article. Thanks on advance.

Bump - been getting a lot of requests this week for articles, thought I would just bump this back up in case people are looking for some fishing advice. I will continue to bump this thread for the next couple of months. I have a new article on wake bait fishing for smallmouth bass coming out in the Spring issue of the Boundary Waters Journal. If you like fishing topwater, or you are new to fishing and or topwater fishing this article is for you.

Would like some information on Disappointment and Parent lake fishing for June 16-20th 2021. Last time to BCWA was with my 2 sons after they came back from Iraq in 2005. Not familiar with that lake but my son wanted to try it?
We will fishing mainly for Walleye, Perch and Bass and Northerns. Ask for your opinion. Live bait, Lures, Colors? We are also willing to switch lakes. Please advise..Thanks

I don't know anything about that area. Maybe if you start a new thread someone might see it and chime in to help you with the area? I can help you with lures if you want to send me an email and request the Grand Slam Lures article. QueticoMike@yahoo.com
