Did a short Basecamp trip once on Kawishiwi lake. Stayed at the SW island site and caught a bunch of 9-10 inch perch just east of the island.

+1 on Kawishiwi Lake I fished it 10 years ago, on the first and last day of a 10-day fishing trip up to Malberg, and was VERY impressed with Kawishiwi Lake. I was impressed by the size and number of yellow perch. While bouncing around a 3.5" brown tube jig, I think I probably caught 5 or 6 perch, all above 10". Also, one eater-sized walleye (the only walleye I caught on that trip, haha!), and a couple of OK smallmouth bass. That was a great fishing trip for all species. It was HOT, and our group only caught about 5 walleye over the trip, but the smallmouth fishing was ridiculous on every lake we went.
We didn't fish Koma or Kawaschong, except while paddling through, but had a brief conversation with someone who was fishing and he said he had caught some good perch.

I have made a couple of trips into BWCA and a couple in to Quetico. I love eating yellow perch (almost as much as their close relative walleye), but I have never caught any in the BW or Q nor have I targeted them. Can some of you offer suggestions and your experiences finding yellow perch?

I have found yellow perch in the bwcaw. They are there, but fron my experience they are substantially smaller, than they are farther south. Fish on your own discretion.
