In my youth I used to trap leeches for money. We had a DNR license and would haul in 100 pounds a day for a short period in the spring.

Of the many 100’s of pounds of leeches we caught, we once pulled an albino leech from a trap. So they do come in two colors after all. Black and pinkish white.

Name of best type leech and colors to use for walleye fishing on Disappointment Lake in June? Will the lake be crowded at that time?

Every time I have gone to Disappointment it has been crowded. By BWCAW standards crowded. never an issue as far as feeling actually crowed. One portage to get into...it becomes a destination lake so it is possible no camps will be available. I’ve always gotten one, just saying plan ahead.

I’ve caught walleyes on pink head/white twister tail no live bait. Never used leaches on the lake but I’d say large leeches, white or chartreuse colors for jigs or even glow in those colors. It is tannin stained.

Live leeches are the best type... color - black. Didn't know they came in other colors.

although sometimes the smallest leech left in the tamer catches the largest walleye. Go figure.
