Its some type of vinyl. They are called "pacchiarini's wiggle tails", I order them through nightmaremuskyflies.com. Lots of varieties in shape and color available. They work great and very durable.

What is your favorite lure to use in the BWCA for Smallmouth bass? I will also be there in June and will be looking for some topwater action. I like the Zara Super Spooks, and Whopper Ploppers. Looks like you had a muddler minnow possibly on a fly rod?

I fish flies all the time (personal preference) , this one was on a muddler/sculpin pattern. For the BW, I fish a leech fly and a deer hair diver for surface action.

No problem. If you like topwater fishing, give the KVD 2.5 Natural Shad wake bait a go this year. The presentation doesn't get any easier than this; cast it as far as you can and then reel as slow as you can bringing it back in. That's it, it is a winner if you like to topwater fish.

Nice smallies Mike. I was out one time so far down at Rocky Fork in the reservoir and got blanked. It was 3 weeks ago. I'd rather be in the streams.

Two fat ones! I've also caught two at once, but the strangest pair I ever caught was a fish that followed a fish (not rare at all with bass, of course), but the follower didn't quit. When I lifted the first fish into the boat, the never hooked second fish parked right beside my canoe, so I lifted it into the boat too and it didn't fight. Then I released the pair of them. I love those rare, strange moments.

Natural Shad is the color of the KVD 2.5 wake bait that I prefer. Sexy shad is also a good color.
