We'll be in BWCA East 2nd week of June and would love to catch walleye for meals. Need to keep kit light. Suggestions for lures? |

3.5 to 4.5" original rapalas and husky jerks in gold/black, perch, and silver/black Tieable leader material Slip bobber split shot and leeches for fishing from camp I really wish I was dedicated enough to pack that light, I am certain the tackle I bring in weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 lbs. |

siusaluki23: "I am certain the tackle I bring in weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 lbs." THIRTY... POUNDS?????? I hope that's an exaggeration. |

Slip bobber rigs or jigs and leeches that time of year work wonders. Search back on here for secure leech storage (leech king, nalgene with holes, etc) and you'll be good |

CityFisher74: "siusaluki23: "1/8 and 1/4 oz jigs with 3 and 4" black, white, olive, and chartreuse curly tail grubs I use tieable steel leaders to keep the pike from stealing my lures. RIO powerflex wire bite tippet, knot 2 kinky, tyger leader, etc. |

4 slip bobbers, bobber stops, red circle hooks, and some sinkers 20 white jigs (10 each 1/8 oz and 1/4oz) 20 jigs assortment of colors (chartreus, pink, black, purple) - same size 3" Mister Twister tails (white, chartreus, yellow, black) 10-12 Rapala Husky Jerks (Gold/Black, Silver/Black, Blue, Green/Orange, Firetiger) 4-5 Rapala Ripping Raps (Firetiger, Blue/Silver, Perch) That's it. We hit likely spots that we have done well in past mornings and evenings with slip bobbers & leeches. If we are having a hard time then we "canoe troll" with rapalas until we bump into a few. When we make contact we break out the bobbers and leeches again. Rarely do we fish with jigs and plastics but I take them because sometimes that is what they want. Outside of my likely spots on lakes we visit I like to fish the first 6-15 foot of water on the windy side of the lake, between islands where there can be current created, points on islands with deep water close by, and the edges of sunken islands. In June especially think shallow water especially bays with muddy bottoms. A great failsafe if the walleyes aren't cooperating are the husky jerks or spinner baits for pike plus we take some top water baits (specifically Quetico Mike's system) for smallmouth. All of my gear fits into a small bag easily carried over my shoulder. 2 plastic trays full of jigs, lures, and bobbers with room left over for extra line, plastics, pliers, and a stringer |

siusaluki23: "1/8 and 1/4 oz jigs with 3 and 4" black, white, olive, and chartreuse curly tail grubs This is the correct post. Only thing I would add is leeches but if you want to keep it light, Mr Twisters certainly do the trick. Not sure what the leader material is for though so I think that could be left out. |

Jackfish: "siusaluki23: "I am certain the tackle I bring in weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 lbs." Let's see 2 spinning rods and 2 baitcasters might bring in the fly rod this year Net Humminbird 597 CI HD fishfinder with sealed lead acid battery (probably 10 lbs total). Mine is mounted in an old dewalt drill case. Tackle box-I'm almost ashamed of how much I have in there for my 10 day trips. Probably 10-15 lbs. metal stringer Pliers Extra spool of line I may have underestimated. Haven't been skunked on a trip so far, so it must be worth it! |

AmarilloJim: "40-50 jigs, half 1/4 and half 3/8 that is a good, effective, slim-downed list. I'd add a 9cm black-and-white deep diving shad rap. Maybe one in black-and-gold as well. I roll of lindy rigs in various bright colors would also be handy and light to be used with the plastics above. |

Jackfish: "siusaluki23: "I am certain the tackle I bring in weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 lbs." That's a lot of tackle :) I'm sure I'd get close to that amount if I brought in my laker and walleye gear! |
