Was up on slim lake ep camped and fished most on hook lake last weekend. We had very bad luck fishing. No walleye and no small mouth in four days we only got a hand full of northern to eat. Is that area not a good fishing area or did we do something wrong. We tried everything under the sun. The only live bait we had was leeches. From the campsite we saw plenty of leeches in the water which made me think the fish were able to be picky maybe. We trolled, jigged and slip bobbered and nothing. I have another permit for the same ep in two weeks and am thinking of dropping it.

Hook Lake and Kenue have only northerns, and they are not particularly large. Slim is a very clear lake and is best fished in the late evening, but it's never produced very many walleyes for me. This area is not the area to be if you're looking for good fishing.

We did see a lots of small perch that would fallow lures was kind of surprised we didn’t see any with decent size too it. No walleye or bass may explain why there was an abundance of leeches.
