I bought some Salmo hornets and some Rapala jointed shad raps to try for smallmouth. Previously, I have always done very well on original shad raps, glass shad raps, and the shad rap RS, but have never tried hornets or jointed shad raps yet.

In the unlikely event the Canadian border opens up, I will try these for smallmouth in late August in Ontario. Otherwise I hope to give them a try on a July canoe trip in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

For walleyes, I bought a Berkley hit stick in the 15 cm (6 inch) size. I'm planning on going trolling tomorrow night for the suspended walleyes on a cisco based lake here in Wisconsin. We just started doing open water trolling for suspended walleyes within the past 3 or 4 years, and have been doing really well with oversized walleye baits and 6 to 8 inch musky baits as well. So the 15 cm Berkley hit stick is probably going to be a winner as well, and I hope to give it a test drive tomorrow night.

What new lures are you trying on your trips this year and how have they worked?

I'm going in mid-July and am going to try some Senko Swim Baits this year. I'll post after I get back.

Ya'll have good luck and stay safe!
