I've had some luck with smallmouth around a couple of small islands off to the east of the boat launch. Newton Falls is very popular if you want to take that single portage over into Newton. I've had luck over there with walleye and smallmouth.
A lot of folks fish right off of the Fall Lake boat launch in a shallows area. There's a mid-lake hump/weed bed out there. Long paddle down to Kawishiwi Falls, but I've heard folks do pretty well down there.

As you paddle off from the end of the portage, hug the shoreline on your left, you'll round the bend and see the rapids. I usually do best over on the far side of the current where it's a bit deeper.

Ah Cool. Where at in Newton? Just passed the portage? Or out farther?

Out in the swift water just to the left of the portage.

Looking at the portage? Or coming off the portage... like, east or west?

Anyone ever fish EP24 Fall Lake? We'll be spending some time there before heading in further. Does it have good fishing? Wondering if it's worth staying to fish it or go through. Thanks.
