I’d troll without any weight to start. The tail dancer can get down to 30ft without any extra weight. It says it on the box. There’s another one that dives to 20ft as well. Just last week I was catching trout with the tail dancer-no extra weight.

It's the 4.5 inch, 3/4 oz, 11cm taildancer. Use 1 to 2 ounces of snap weights to get it down deep. The large yellowbird dr. spoons with the flash streamers on the treble hooks are also good for getting down to depth. Have fun!

There are two slightly different versions of TailDancers: the regular - just called the Taildancer, and the Deep Taildancer, which of course goes a bit deeper. I recall they both come in a couple different sizes. I don't recall which size I got, but its not the largest or the smallest. I don't count myself as a great fisher, but I've done well with these. I do best on blue (regular), followed by purple (deep), and Rainbow (deep I think but not sure). Letting out a lot of line helps them get deeper. I have only used a weight in August when really hot - not sure about September.

I think you are looking for a Purpledescent Tail dancer. It comes in two sizes depending on how deep you want to go. The reason it is the purple one is that fish can see it better deeper than other colors.

Do you fish it with a 1 oz weight and a triple swivel in order to get it down to depth or do you just get the deepest diving tail dancer and let it dive?

That’s exactly what I needed to know. Are the 2 different lengths with 2 different bill sizes, or are they the same length with different bill sizes? Thx

I’ll be rolling into kek just before the next full moon on Sunday the 19th. I’ve got an assortment of lures that I’ll be trolling with but I’m curious about a crank bait that I’ve heard about in the past. I think it’s a tail dancer and I believe it’s a Rapala product. Can someone give me a little info on what it is I’ll be looking for at the store. Thx
