I spent 4 days on Thomas to close out the season and we had nothing but garbage (fishing) weather. It was 70-75, sunny with zero wind pretty much the entire time. We didn't catch a single laker. Luckily we brought some salted suckers and caught a bunch of walleyes once we hesitantly gave up on the Lakers and started fishing shallower. Water temps were 62-64 the entire time....we didn't even really see any on the sonar. I am guessing if we had spent our time jigging in 60-100' of water, we might have ran into a few hunting on bottom, but I rarely have success jigging in super deep water out of a canoe...

I was out on September 25th. I caught a Laker at 7:30am; I thought I was going to have a great day fishing. Nope, just that one.

Thanks for the report Eric. Know you’re an angler who puts the work in to get on fish, Sometimes it just doesn’t come together. Glad the walleyes at least cooperated for you guys.

Anybody chasing them off the Gunflint Trail or elsewhere? We had a permit but had to surrender it. Love to hear some reports if anyone is out.
