Is it just me, or has the ice bite really slowed down in the last 2 weeks? I was doing pretty well with the walleyes at sundown, but now can't seem to find them again fishing around the metro area. Cold front/weather? Increased traffic on the lakes? Mid-winter?
What do you think shuts off the bite?

I'm nowhere close to you, but sounds like the mid-winter lull.
Happens every year. It's not early ice, not late ice. This is when the guides earn their keep

January can be tough sledding for ice fishing. That why I’m headed up on Saturday. Haha

Trout bite never seems to slow...give up on those finicky species mid/late season and head up for some Lake Trout or Stocked Stream Trout action!!

Central Wisconsin home lake is still producing, 12 in perch yesterday, nice gills, best fishing just around the corner, can't catch them sitting on the couch.

My buddy lives on minnetonka. But he's been going to Waconia and doing pretty good the last week or so.

January lull.....typical. Fish are there but lethargic. Yesterday I marked a ton of fish and saw them on camera. They would follow lures but not bite. If they did bite, it was light. Thicker ice and more snow will kill weeds, chew up oxygen, changing fish locations for a while. I'd give it another couple weeks before it gets better, and, late ice is always good. For now, I go early or late in the day for the short periods of a decent bite.

I'll report back if February is any better. Headed to Minnetonka or Waconia this weekend. Anyone been out there?
