What company makes this magic lure? I can always use some new tricks for the hard water season.

Ever try catching a fish with just the jig? It very seldom happens, if there is no wax worm dangling on it, not going to happen, whatever the jig, big fan of tungsten jigs, with 2 lb test, great combo, with a fat waxxy.

That was the hot color on Lake of the Woods in December for me, as well. Great Lakes guys have been custom-painting this for some years, too, and now it's getting more and more available.

Not in the BWCA but central Minnesota. I’d thought I’d post about a hot lure this year for me. It’s a jig made from tungsten, painted with both luminous paint and ultraviolet paint. I hit it with my ultraviolet flashlight and tip it with a small minnow head or wax worm and send it down the hole. The key is the paint color. It is called “Wonder Bread” color. Yes the same color as the bread bags of old. White with blue red and orange dots, ultraviolet and luminous white paint. Crappies cannot resist this lure. It’s been around for a few years now but I’m just trying this lure this year. You need to try this jig. Be sure to charge it with an ultraviolet or regular light once in a while. Fish will see it from a distance and come over for a meal. When tipped with a wax worm it can’t be beat. My neighbor caught a nice walleye on this jig tipped with a minnow head.

I like Widow Maker ice jigs. They have a good selection of tungsten jigs in Wonder Bread and similar polka dot patterns. Although, solid gold color has been the hottest for me this year. Jigs

I have a lot of luck on KenderS Outdoors' K-Rips and T-Rips, which are tiny rattletrap type baits. We've caught everything from dink perch to 25" lakers on them. T-Rip I like their purple/white/pink tungsten jig as well. Purple jig

I've been using wonder bread and other patterns for a few years. It's a good one but not always the best.

I just have a range of sizes and jigs and patterns and hope I've got something close enough when we find out what they're liking.

When the biting stops unexpectedly, it's often because the wax worm is gone!

Quite a few companies make this color. I’ve found that Maynard’s Tackle Plow Grub #8 has the best or longest lasting luminous paint.
