Just put the transducer in a ziplock bag with some water, zip it closed till the cable hits the edge of bag, then with opening pointed upwards of course, place on hull bottom. Then just put a tackle box small pack etc on top so it doesn’t move around...easy, super light, easy to set up repeatedly for portages or going back to camp etc and works great.

I simply run the cable back to the rear of the canoe and set the transducer on the bottom, scooping a little water with my hand so it sits in a puddle. It takes less than a cup of water for the transducer to do its thing. Cleanup happens every time I portage or bring the canoe ashore for overnight as I tip the canoe over and spill the water out.

No need to put the transducer in the bag, I just fill the bag a little over half full, close it, lay it on it’s side and put the transducer on top. If the bag isn’t too full it will nestle down and stay there.

Exactly. And, lately, I've just set it in the ever-present puddle of water, no bag needed at all. Might just need to splash in a little more as the day goes on...
And, it will be easier to do this in Souris River canoe - just set it anywhere between the ribs. In Northstar models, you need to set it off to the side to avoid the large football-shaped floatation running the length of the canoe. Not really a problem, just need to avoid trying to shoot through air-filled materials.

I've used plumbers putty several times in a rental kevlar and it worked great. I just rolled out a snake of putty, placed the ducer on the floor (between ribs) and wrapped the putty around it to make a cup. Add a little water to the cup and you're set. It doesn't portage well 100% of the time, but easy enough to fix on the go. I bring the remainder of the putty along, but have neve needed it.

First I have searched and read tons of posts on this so thank you to all the prior posts on building a fish finder set up for bwca.
I always previously used a deeper, but just bought a garmin striker 4 (not the cv). Thanks to this group, building a 8 EUL battery pack and a mount. The one thing I have read a lot about but haven't found a consistent response is finding a way to mount the transducer in the hull of the canoe of a rental, which adhesive have you found to be the easiest to clean up after a trip? Plummers putty, duct seal, silicon, double sided tape, etc.?
I've read a lot of posts with suggestion on what they think they will try, but not a lot of after the fact posts on how easy the clean up was in a rental.
Also planning to rent a Souris river quetico and Northwind Ted Bell kevlar canoes.
Any advice and help is greatly appreciated.
