Me and my cousins are planning a trip to sawbill and up a ways into the BWCA May24-28. Does any experienced fisherman know when the ice will most likely be off? And will fishing for the four major species (bass, trout, walleye, and northern) be affected? I heard rumors the ice is usually off mide may and that fishing is great around the time we are planning our trip. |

Several conversations on the message boards about ice-out predictions. I'm not an expert on ice-out so I'll leave that to the other message boards. I am watching the ice for trip north of Sawbill a few days before yours...I'm a little concerned ice won't be out enough for us to make it into Lizz/Swamp. Keep watching the weather and the updates. Usually your dates are great times to be fishing! If the ice is out this year, you should do really well. I suggest you search the trip reports for sawbill - lots of good info there. You'll also find some sawbill, and nearby lakes, fishing reports and discussions on old message board conversations. Hope you get into some great fishing! |
