I got ani bobber for my birthday last year and am going to try it this year. We head in on the 29th of May for a week. I'll try to report back if it works or not.

I have a Deeper. The issue is being able to recharge the Deeper AND your phone. You’re not going to get a full day out of either, so you must have some way to recharge. I bring a power pack and I have a solar charger as well. I mainly use it to target lake trout and sometimes walleye. While it may not be the best, I’ve made it work for me, and It has helped me have some great shore breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.

I've been looking for a lightweight/portable depthfinder to bring on my trips. Something that doesn't require an external batter, transducer and mount. I came across the Deeper line of castable depth finders and some have mixed reviews.
I see Garmin got into the game as well with the Striker Cast. Anyone use something like this? Seems like an excellent solution. Curious what real-world battery consumption is like though.

I tried a similar one that Lowrance had (I think they actually bought a brand) called the FishHunter and it was absolute garbage. The connection is spotty between phone an device if there's any hint of a wave, splash, or distance. On top of that your phone will drain battery very quickly running the screen on full brightness in the sun + the wifi connection. Spent about 20 minutes messing with it on our first morning out and never tried it again. Gave it away to a kid getting into fishing.
I'm not sure if Garmin has it figured out, but my sense is the wireless pairing and battery life is still an issue even if just for your phone. I'm trying the FishTrax 1C out in 2 weeks. Only needs 4xAA batteries. You can mount to a canoe, shoot thru-hull with water inboard, or toss out with the attached float.
