CoachWalleye74: "So the rapids flow into Alpine from Jasper, south end of Alpine? That may change where we try to camp. Are there rapids flowing out of Alpine into Red Rock? "
yes, yes, no - just tool around the mid lake islands on red rock and you'll catch plenty of walleyes and smallmouth

yes there is a major flowage from jasper to Alpine , prime walleye breeding habitat. IMO alpine better days were in the early 90's but still of these 3 lakes alpine will have the largest population of walleyes, but you might get better quality in Red Rock & Jasper is more a good # lake for lake trout but there are some quality walleyes in jasper but probably the lowest in numbers. IMO the Eye's will be in post spawn. some may disagree but i have never caught a prespawn walleye on 15+ openers in the BW. the females will be in & out over night but the dumb males have a tendency to hang out in the rapids area for a longer time. i'll be seagull on the 21st best of luck

We are heading into this area for the first time in about a week. We mainly base camp and fish walleye, and bring leeches/minnows. Anyone have any general tips on these locations to share for fishing? Mainly wondering if there are Rapids or Falls coming into going out of these lakes. With high water and late ice out I would think the walleye should be stacked up above and below Rapids???

I fished these lakes over memorial weekend a few years back. We caught Lake Trout trolling Little Cleo’s on the north side of Jasper. We caught mostly small mouth and northern casting (mepps & wacky rigs) shorelines on Alpine. On Red Rock, the wind was crashing into the mid lake islands. We casted lipless crank baits from the north side of the island and caught a few nice eyes. Good luck!
