I'd still try weed edges and wind blown points first. If you could find some mid lake humps that would be good also. Dusk is probably the best time.

I'd like to know what people have for fishing tactics in early september. I've done the majority of my bwca fishing around opener and I have no tactics for early fall. I'll be fishing around alice lake and the surrounding lakes for walleyes mostly. Thanks in advance.

I've both clubbed bombers and struck out this time of year. Had the best success on big deep humps early/late on big baits (pike suckers). You may not have that option so may have to find some bigger plastics.


When it has been a challenge is when the fish are scattered and bait is still very plentiful. Makes it extremely difficult to zero in on pods of fish holding on structure. In that situation cover water as much as you can.

Have only been there once-several years ago. I know the brook trout fishing is spectacular in mid September. About the only way not to catch them is to not fish.
