Duff: "shock...... I've seen a picture of a 40+" pure Muskie right next to the artificial falls coming out of Lake Normandale........who knows how that got there? Did it make it up there from the MN River via 9 Mile Creek? Sometimes I think I just think too much about the how in these cases, in a natural way. When it could be explained easier by someone just transplanting fish.
Did it when we were kids in the summer of '81. Two separate trips with coolers of crappies and pike caught out of Gun Club lake where the now 494 bridge crosses the MN River. Stocked them in Thomas Lake in Eagan where a bunch of us kids lived on the East of Pilot Knob Road side. Read about some decent crappie getting caught there a couple winters ago and smirked that they were probably descendents of those original fish." Yes, I knew a guy who would put small walleyes in the brick yard pond in Chaska. I would be surprised if anyone did that with a Tiger. For one thing, it would be an illegal fish in possession.

SV Auburn lake is where i meet tim bryan on , and if you haven't kayak fished Auburn , you would love it , kind of a two part lake where a kayak can get to the east basin that gets very little pressure and holds some big bass. (pic of bass from east auburn) i guarantee you'll love ;)

A little off topic, just found this interesting. Anyone who knows the west metro fishing lakes may know Auburn lake in Victoria (state record bass). This lake has never been stocked to my knowledge. My son caught this musky the other day on Auburn. Looks like a Tiger Musky to me.
What I find interesting is a friend of mine, maybe 30 years ago, claimed he caught a musky there winter fishing. I was like, no, you're mistaken. Go figure!

Not all that super surprising. My first Tiger Muskie came from Lake Normandale, I figure it made it's way down 9 Mile Creek from Bryant lake.
I live close to Sunset Pond in Burnsville, and on two separate occasions, years apart, I have been told about a small Tiger Muskie that has been caught in that little slough. As best that I can tell through maps and hydrology, it is possible that those fish made their way to Sunset from Crystal Lake through wetlands and storm sewers.
Maybe it made it's way there from either Lake Waconia or Lake Minnetonka through subterrain water ways? Never say never.

DUFF you obviously know the metro , with 6-mile creek running from st. boni to halsteds bay , that water way is actually the start of minnehaha falls , and parley-auburn-even steiger can be coneected during high water times. the thing is tigers are stocked by DNR and none to minnetonka or waconia , nearest lake with tigers i believe is Eagle out in Norwood, so the present of a tiger musky is crazy , i know it could be from private stocking but i doubt it. DNR has also captured a total of 3 walleyes(Auburn) in there surveys the past 25 years. 1 was actually 7lbs. but that makes a little more sense as eggs can attach to any birds legs and carried into another lake.

Yes I’m on Facebook. What is the group he is in, what is his name. I might have read his posts.

In Mille lacs lake a rare tiger musky shows up from muskies interbreeding with northern pike. It is rare but does happen.

" Crystal lake in robbinsdale ? that has been stock from many years ago , i use to live close by ;)" We were going to Crystal lake in Apple Valley, but we changed our minds. There is a better population of Hybrid Muskies in Orchard Lake in Apply Valley, just southwest of there across the highway.
