Not that it matters, since the season is closed, but Brule Lake does not have lake trout in it.

Chieflonewatie: "We just got back from Brule and caught eighty walleyes in three days." Nice! What depth/structure were they at and what were you using for lures/bait? Feel free to shoot me an email.

Very true. Brule was originally a native lake trout lake, but the introduction of walleyes and smallmouth bass destroyed that fishery...

30 feet of water near steep drop offs on rocks. White jigs with red hooks and a leech. We were barely jigging it and the bite was very light.

Lake trout season ends on the 30th.

We had a pretty solid week considering the massive cold/wind front and it being early October... We were pulling these in until we were too tired to keep fishing on Sunday.

Taking my brother on his first trip to the BW next week for five days. We will be base camping on Brule and venturing out from there. He would like to try and get into some lake trout.
I know these three lakes all hold them. Just wondering if anyone has had better luck on one over the others. Any info you can provide would be appreciated.

DNR tried to reestablish the lake trout population back in the 70’s, stocking it heavily every year. But not a single fish ever turned up in surveys. I think they finally gave up in ‘77 or ‘78.
