With the putty method, are they talking plumber's putty or something else?

When using the duct seal you don't even need the water. I ball it up to get the air pockets out then flatten it onto the bottom of the canoe. I then mash the transducer into the duct seal, embedding it without any air trapped underneath. Mine stays there for the entire trip and works fine.
The last couple seasons though I have gone to a small detachable platform that holds a rod holder, fish finder and a Scotty mount for the transducer arm. The depth and fish readings are the same but now I get water temps.

I use a small sandwich sized baggie with water and transducer in it….works well….if your hull has foam ribs or insert, transducer won’t read thru those….

I took a 4" PVC pipe coupling and clamped a piece of plastic bag across one end with a hose clamp. Dip 1/2" of water, place it out of the way in the canoe bottom and set the transducer in the cup. Easy, clean, effective and removable.

Probably electrical duct seal. I don't know, just a guess.

My garmin striker does. I've found good results with a little putty to hold half a handful of water and the hardware - works just fine keeping it in the canoe. Great fishing finder...hope you catch a lot!

Can a transducer read through the bottom of a Kevlar canoe? I have a newer garmin striker specifically.

I used duct seal. Just roll it out a bit then make a circle and mash the edges down to the hull. Fill with water. Works good.

I've got a small homemade mount for the Garmin unit and my battery pack, but have had some troubles with various ways to mount my transducer arm.

I literally just put a little water in the bottom and it works great. ...and I mean a little water. Just scoop a little with my hand. that is it. If it falls over then I just set it back up. Shoots through with NO problem.

So I looked for a pic catching a fish to see if I could find the garmin on the bottom of the canoe. No luck. I guess I don't catch enough fish!
But I did do a search on this site and found a thread with a couple of options. There is a picture of the putty mount. I also like the sandwich bag suggestion from Jatfomike and will give that a try. The other solution, explained and pictured in the thread, is to use a small piece of foam.
