I bought the ice fishing kit for my Garmin Echomap 4, very similar to the striker. It works but the battery is heavy. I've gotten several days use out of it. I've thought of going to the lithium ones as well so I'll be curious if anyone has 1st hand experience with them.

Yeah, I have a lead acid batteries from my ice fishing unit. Was hoping to use something that would last longer. I'm willing to spend the $100 if they would be worth it.

I took a Garmin Striker 4 last year for the first time. I have two AMPed Outdoors 6ah lithium batteries for ice fishing. They are very light so I brought both of the batteries. We fished pretty hard for 5 and half days and I never had to change the battery.
 
Everything fits in the Plano tackle box for portaging. Batteries and remaining cords stay in bag strapped to the thwart in front of me while fishing. Worked great.

The Garmin site lists a typical current draw of 0.23 amps at 12 volts for that unit, so you'll get a bit over 4 hours per battery amp hour.

Hello All,
I wanted to bring a fish finder this year as my group wont be doing any long portages and weight isn't too big of an issue. I have a Garmin striker 4 and found a suction cup mount to mount the transducer to the side of the canoe. I was also looking at purchasing a Dakota lithium 10ah battery and putting it in a small dry bag and hooking it to the thwart so its secure. But I was wondering if anyone else has ran this setup and about how many days I would get out of this if I ran the fish finder for about 6-8 hours a day?
Does anyone have any other suggestions for batteries. I also saw a couple posts mentioning a 8 AA battery pack. Do these work well if you pack in a bunch of batteries? How long of a run time do you get from just 8 AA?

I’m taking a similar set up, but I’m doing 12 days - Fly-in to Clay exit Beaverhouse. I’m planing on the Striker 4, with a RAM mount transducer arm.
I purchased the 10ah (Nocqua) battery @ 1 lb 7 oz. My plan is to recharge with a portable solar panel (Big Blue) @ 1 lb 5 oz

We usually get a week out of 8 AA batteries with a black and white unit. That's running it several hours a day, but not constantly.
