We had good luck targeting walleyes near and in the rapids where Bald Eagle dumps into Gabbro. Curlytail tipped which a leech. Plan on losing a lot of jigs in the moving water.

Trolling Floating Rapalas, maybe Shad Raps.

We spent the last week of June on Gabbro last summer and did well. We never did find a particular spot that held a ton but picked up a mix of walleye and northern on just about every point, rock pile or island we trolled by. Mostly trolled with rapalas in the 8 footish range depending on time of day.

Going there again this year. Cool area, there are some good day trips as well.
Turtle Lake has big pike and Gull Lake has been my best walleye lake to date. I like Gull Lake. Did better on Bald Eagle than Gabbro, but that could change if I fish it smarter, as suggested here.
The Gull, Pietro, Clearwater, Turtle, Bald Eagle loop is really fun and not too challenging for newbie types, if you're into that I recommend it highly. I might try to get my group to do it, two first timers, two kids this time, get em some seasoning haha.

Have fun!

Cheers, scat

I've caught walleyes in the gabbro/bald eagle area right in the weeds in August. Current, too.

Never been to Little Gabbro entry point. I heard the fishing was pretty good on Little Gabbro and Gabbro. Looking to target Walleyes, what setup has worked for you? Going in 1st week of Aug. Thanks!
