ScottMacFish: "...My son has yet to learn to just appreciate the BWCA and the time spent on the trip, it is all about catching fish...." Can't help you with your lake choice. But you need to learn something from your son. I think he get's it! |

So my 14-year-old son who loves to catch fish (and hates not catching fish) and I are in the last week of May. and have options to do either lake. We have not been on either of these trips before, however we have done a good number of other BWCA trips. So, if the only consideration is catching fish (walleye/bass) which lake would you choose? Me, I do like catching fish and eating one per trip. For me though, I just love being up there. If the fishing is not great, not a big deal for me. My son has yet to learn to just appreciate the BWCA and the time spent on the trip, it is all about catching fish. Any feedback is/will be very much appreciated. Thanks |

Malberg area has lots of great fishing since it’s in the Kawishiwi River system. River lake is one of my favorites. Go up to Makwa for lake trout and cliffs. Go to Fishdance lake for the famous pictograph cliff wall. LLC entry gives you Ely, Kawishiwi Lake gives you the north shore. You can’t go wrong either way. |
