I have been fishing northern Illinois for 40+ years. Places I have fished for walleye and do pretty good in no particular order.

Heidecke Lake

Fox Chain(Catherine, Channel, Marie, Petite, Pistakee, Fox river north of Chain)

Kankakee River

Fox River (south)

Dupage River

Tampier Lake

In Central IL it's Lake Shelbyville. Spring is good on the Kaskaskia River below the Shelbyville dam.

I agree with Lake Shelbyville,Haven't been back down there in a couple of years but we use to do a guys 4 day trip there every year and would catch 15-20 every year, fishing eyes early then switching to crappies after the eyes quit biting.Main lake points are the spots, there's alot of eyes caught on the main numbered points but we found our own smaller main lake points that held fish.

I grew up on the Kankakee river in Momence Il. It has gd walleye fishing from the stateline to Momence. Caught 6 the last time out in mid August. Dad caught a 8lb walleye this year and there are big fish caught there every year. Talked to my dad the morning he went out 2 days a go 6 smallies and 2 walleyes. This is a river and fishing can be tough, you have to work for your fish.

Sauger. Illinois river, flats south of Peru and along docked barges around Spring Valley bridge. First timer this spring, some success.
