Going in to the Frost River area from #49 to do a combo of Beymer routes 49-2 and 48-2. Have had great fishing in western BW, but the DNR Lake finder is not enthusiastic about the species in this area. I do not fish for lakers, and most list pike as the only "shallow" fish I might find. Since this is a hard trip, is it worth the effort to try to find fish where DNR says few exist. Catch and Release only, for me. Any suggestions fellow Anglers? Do the river stretches fish well? Thanks for the help!

The Frost River and adjoining lakes are all pretty much just pike lakes. I wouldn't plan on trophies. Frost Lake has trout and pike. No walleyes or smallmouth in that area, thankfully.

The Frost River is a great paddle. All flat, and mostly through wetlands. Few people, decent chance to see moose.
