Wood Lake is a good all around lake. Expect to catch SMB,NP,WAL, and a few LMB. Jig and grubs and crankbaits. Anything shiny for NP. Hula Lake is a shallow lake of mostly wild rice. There is one small fishable channel straight out from the portage (300 yds.) and then left. NP and maybe a few perch. The campsites on Wood Lake are fairly heavily used. The best is first one on the right, but it is only good for one tent. The site in the narrows is the best for a big group.

WE stayed at the site on the narrows just before the portage to Hula a few years ago in August. There is a small bay behind the campsite that is accessible by a trail. We caught at least 6 pike and 4 SMB in about 45 min one evening casting spinnerbaits. Lots of blueberries and raspberries along the portage trail too.

Has anyone tried fishing either one of these lakes. If so what worked and what was the primary species caught. Thanks all.
