We are headed to Ely area cabin on Saturday. Which type of live bait should we be picking up?

medium sized leeches under a bobber in warmer, small lakes or in bays= deadly.

+1. WhiteWolf is dead on. It's going to depend on your lake. Personally I would bring leeches and minnows.

We fished Newfound and Ensign last weekend and caught all of our walleye on a small jig and minnow.

Early minnows, middle Leeches and worms, late minnows, have had my best luck this way. Good luck fishing.

It doesn't take much to melt worms, but they sure catch fish.

With the cold water temps (still around 60 in the cities on the lakes I have been on) I would think leeches would be pretty tough to fish with (they ball up more in cold water).
I would definitely go with minnows but that is just my preference. I don't do a lot of crawler fishing.

I have tried live bait on prior trips but I am giving Gulp Alive 3" leeches a chance this June.
