Nice fish!
What's the cooking/prep method here? Never filleted a laker, but understand they must be treated differently than eyes, bass and pike. This just looks so simple that I thought I'd ask in case I tie into one on Winchell next week!
Cheers, JR

Cheers, JR" Gut em out, clean them up and then put olive oil in the cavity and all over the outside. Put it in a fish basket(because people pee on the firegrates) and start cooking over the fire. I like to cut diagonal vents in the flesh as its cooking and continue to add a little olive oil and spices as its cooking. You know the fish is just about done when the eye turns milky white, I like to cook it just a little longer to get that smoky flavor.

Do agree with all of the previously mentioned prep. As well, a trick that I have learned with salmon and trout is to bleed them. If in fact you are to eat them soon and don't need to keep them alive for hours, cut the gills and bleed out the fish.
Definitely needed a larger fish basket on this one...Normally wouldn't keep this large of fish but it fed a group of 8 nicely!

What site were you staying at? Heading to Ima/Hatchet/Jordan first week of July and looking for some walleye & laker fishing advice as well as what sites are preferred. First time camping in this area.

Stayed on Ima...It is the only island site on the lake. This was the northern site as two were on this same island. Wonderful spot capable of hosting as many tents as you wish to take, and with the slightest breeze left us bug free for 6 days. Recently submitted a trip report titled Fathers Day Weekend for more info. Any spot on Jordan would be suggested also. Fishing was excellent on both lakes, walleye, NP and obviously the laker in the photo! If I can help further PM me.

Just returned from BWCA today and wanted to give a quick fishing report. Picked up several Walleye in Jordan and a 32" Pike at the mouth of Reflection in Ima. Also was lucky enough to pick up a 29" laker from Camp! Fishing is picking up. Was a great trip with fantastic weather.
