I didn't fish, but did a snowshoe trip from Pickerel out to the North Kawish in 2005. First of all, they did plow the road all the way to Pickerel, I ended up parking about a half mile or so away and hiking the rest of the way. Pickerel is pretty shallow, some deeper spots over on the east end might be good. There is a creek over on that end that I followed down to the North K and also some snowmobile tracks that I assume head over towards Greenstone. Two campsites on Pickerel, the better being the one on the east end. Only one campsite nearby on the North K and it's only so so. There were other folks on the lake the day I was there so just know you probably won't have total solitude.

Looking for a place to winter camp and ice fish outside of Ely with my 11 year old. Someone mentioned camping on, and fishing, Pickerel and hiking to the Kawishiwi to fish. Anyone fished Pickerel? The DNR info is pretty old so wondering what fish are present. Thanks.
