First fish!

Proud Papa reporting that our 3 year old daughter reeled in her first fish ever on a recent trip to the BWCA! The fact that it was a lake trout added to the satisfaction. At least mine. :)

The rest of the story

TB , I was camping on Big Moose when she made her first trip I believe. I think she was only 3 or 4 months old. Man , does time fly by or what?

Very nice report,I love the areas you visited,in some ways much of it to me is as remote as you can find in much of the BWCA.

Loved your pictures of the burnt areas and how they regenerated. Going in from Round-Bat-Gillis I was the first person in those areas after the fires for they just reopened the area hours before. Regeneration looks great and it is kind of neat being able to see a long ways.
Hope the moose move back into the area in strong numbers.

I remember when Paulson lake was rainbows only once, than lake trout were stocked, the growth rate at first was unbelievable and nice lake trout were present. But excellent reproduction habitat for lakers numbers increased and sized dropped due to limited food availability.

That whole area you tripped(which was extensive) has many fond memories of many winter camping trips and learning how to winter camp.

Thanks for the awesome report. One of those reports that screams out and says wish I was there.

That is awesome! I am trying to work out a time to get my son out at a crack at his first fish.

Actually it is.

I believe the second picture is the first time she tried 'touching' a fish. :)

Very nice report! That's also my favorite part of the canoe country south of the border. We took our boys through Gabi and Little Sag when they were 4 and 6 y.o. Congrats on Aurora's first fish/laker.

That first fish is always awesome no matter what it is or which superhero fishing pole is used. We prefer the light up Spider-Man .
