Hey everyone,
So I am taking a trip to Angleworm, Home, Gull and Beartrap lakes the last week of July. I am hoping to get into some walleye and some norhtern pike for fun. Any tips and recommendations? I know Angleworm has walleye but what about the other lakes in the loop there? I am planning on bringing live bait and of course cranks. I know twister tails work great as well.

*Any tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the response newguy. We've talked about fishing Gun. Did you have much luck there?

I got skunked on Gun, but I was trying to fish BWCA like it was some of my Canadian trips, and it was just a different beast. I fished Gun daytime on days with perfect weather and clear skies, and Gun has very clear water, so I probably should have gone deeper. The day we arrived was stormy and another large group did awesome off a particular shallow island, but we didn't catch a thing the next day with nice weather.

If you matched it to the conditions, I'm sure you'd do well there.

I came in to Gull from the Gun Lake side, and had success on the north side of the island that's off of the south shore. Looking at the map now, it seems there was a 13' hole right there (the deepest part of this shallow lake):

We hooked up on northern and smallmouth, but not walleye, but this was just a few hours on a June afternoon.
