We put all our bowls (don't use plates), cups and utensils in the mesh bag after washing, rinse with hot water and let them hang over night to dry.

That's something i would say and do say. You should see the look i get when i say that when someone is over for dinner, it's priceless

Dude, why bother washing dishes when they're just going to get dirty again?

What do you guys do with your dishes after washing them? My buddy likes to leave them out and doesn't like to put them in the pack. We just let them air dry, which is fine since we don't bother bringing a dish towel, but I don't like them being out all night. The thing that stops us from putting them in the pack is we usually have the pack hung well before the dishes are dry.
Should I drill a hole in the lip of the plates then hang everything (clothesline or fish stringer style loop) to at least get it off the ground? Buy a dry bag just for the dishes? I'm fine with leaving things on the rocks that have a lid, or can fit in the covered pots, but not everything can like the plates. What does everyone else do?

Wash and use a pot of hot water to rinse. Then just wipe with a kitchen towel. Put in the screen tent/kitchen folding table until next meal. We base camp so we have more gear then most.

Leave them out at night. Never thought of using a mesh bag, but that is a good idea.

We use a cotton bandanna to dry our dishes with and then just hang it to dry. It dries fairly quick.

One more for the mesh bag hanging from the clothesline or a tree limb.

I don't really have any dishes to wash - just a pot I boil water in, a mug for coffee, and a spoon. The pot gets drained, the mug rinsed and drained, the spoon sanitized, then it all gets put back in the stuff sack and in the pack at night. I don't leave much loose stuff lying around at night. I don't hang - the Ursack/BearVault gets taken out of camp after dinner.
The mesh bag sounds like a good option for your needs.

So simple, why didn't I think of that?

Me too. Then put them in the food pack when it's time to put it away.
