John, I really want to thank you for sending me these mounts. They worked out perfectly!

Glad I could help and thanks for helping me move stuff out of my over stuffed garage.

Folks, I used to have a set of roof rack towers just like this.

Does anyone know if anything like this is still available? I need a new set for a trailer I'm building.

Not cheap but there's some on ebay..

Ebay

If it's just the rain gutter mount you want there's a lot of Yakima rain gutter towers also on ebay.

Really, any of the towers that clamp on and off easily would be good. I just have a fond nostalgia for the aluminum ones and I remember them being cheaper than yakima 1a's. I guess not any more! I'll be making a crossbar either out of wood or pipe, depending on what I get.

Deerfoot: email sent.

Wow--I remember buying them new off the shelf for $25 in the 1970s. A 2x4 crosspiece and some carpeting and you were good to go. I still use them (and just gave a set to a friend). Yakimas are nice, and lockable.
