Hello everyone, does anyone have a favorite app for wind forecast? Thanks in advance.

My wind app is called NOAA weather radio station. No cell service needed or phone, but you do need a weather radio

Interesting question. I use windalert which is a paid service for access to their specialized wind forecasts and their network of stations. However, I don't think they have any focus on the BW area. They may do forecasts for Lake Superior but I'm not sure. They are great here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Basically, they are driven by people who will pay for this info such as windsurfers and sailors. I'd be really curious if there is a decent wind focused forecast for the BW area.
Currently looking like a nice light drift around the harbor at home right now but I'm stuck at work. And darn, looks like the wind will be higher than I feel like sailing in on Saturday!

I have no experience withwind apps and wind forecasts out on the West Coast- but here in the Upper Plains / Midwest wind apps such as Ventusky etc along with most of the major computer guidance (with is what Ventusky and most apps are based off of) do OK when winds are relatively light- say under 10 KTS. Same can be said about NOAA / NWS wind forecasts-- OK when they are light. But increase the winds to when they really become an issue or serious for water recreation - wind apps / computer guidance and NOAA / NWS really struggle in that they are much too low compared to actual observed winds. When the winds are forecasted to have any gusts to them - I usually add at least 25% to the sustained winds and at least 5 mph to the gusts.-- especially over long stretches of fetch on big open lakes. I do not know the underlying cause of this - but this has been an issue for years in the forecast field.
