Pretty much all my gear is stored in a main pack with a liner. The only exception is my sleeping bag, that I store in a waterproof seal line bag. I also put clothing in a garbage bag before I put it in the pack with liner.

Who packs everything in a waterproof main bag? Who packs in a traditional backpack and then puts everything in waterproof stuff bags?

Swampturtle: "Granite gear pack with a contractor garbage bag as a waterproof liner
Some base camping type trips I bring a waterproof SealLine wide mouth duffle"

This is exactly what I/We do. I always stuff an extra contractor bag in each pack, too, just in case.

Also, all of the clothing and sleeping bags are in a Dry Bag inside the packs. Helps compress stuff down, too.

Use a large plastic liner with traditional pack; not necessary with a waterproof one. Either way, waterproof compression stuff sack for things that need to stay dry - sleeping bag, clothes, etc. Twist the top of the liner and fold over, then secure with a BDB or similar.

Duluth packs with contractor liners. We will sometimes put clothes in a small stuff sack but more for compression than waterproof.

Traditional backpack. Use waterproof stuff sacks for things that need it like sleeping bags. Ziplock bags for many smaller things.

115L Sealline for food and gear that that doesn't have its own dry bag.

Traditional pack with liner, everything clothing related or sleeping bag in here is also in its own dry bag.

Maine pack basket for cooking gear, water bladder, misc. equipment and rain gear. No liner, no dry bags, just stuff that could get wet and be fine.
