Thanks for the offer, Vader, but while we have friends in the cities, we won't be there anytime soon.
I appreciate the discussion, everyone, but all the theorizing and discussing in the world can't replace a physical "test-drive" which is what she needs. Not gonna spend that much money without knowing she's comfortable in it first.

Southern Racine near the mall. I think an Amok Draumr will actually be more her jam. She likes to sprawl legs around and doesn't like feeling confined. I think all her personal quirks and preferences may feel most at home in an Amok. I had been thinking a WBRR would be a significantly cheaper way to go, but I was super wrong about that. Still want to try one, but my money is on her ultimate choice being Amok. Heck, *I'd* like to try an Amok. I wonder if I'd like it more than an SLD.

I'm a side sleeper and thought I would have issues with a gathered end hammock. Not so, I love it. Just make sure your hang angle is correct and sleep on a diagonal. I have a WBBB

She's already tried a gathered-end. She says she'd live if she had to do that, but far from 100% and wants to see if the alternatives are any better for her. SLD Trail Lair is my personal jam, but this isn't about me.

My girlfriend in interested in giving hammocking a go, but she thinks that something like a Warbonnet Ridgerunner or Amok Draumr might be better for her as she likes to side and stomach sleep. Is there anyone in southeast WI who has one that she could try out before we buy one for her?

Maybe Ben will chime in. I know he has slept in a BB and a RR. I know when I have my BBXL hung right it seems as flat as my bed at home. The foot box is very nice.

That sounds like the perfect system for a side sleeper. I use a WBBB and am able to sleep on my side comfortably. A proper hang and laying on a diagonal is the way to go in a gathered end. WB has a foot box which is really nice.

I 100% think the RR is the best way to go. Unfortunately I only have 1 and have plans to use it pretty regularly over the next month or so. If you're in the twin cities I'd be happy to loan it out for a day or two though. I've used it for the past 5 years. It's especially great at crowded family gatherings to get some peace and quiet away from the snoring filled cabins.

I used my RR for the first time in the BW this spring. I loved it. Woke up without the sore back and hips I was used to when tent camping. I’m a side sleeper and had tried GE hammocks and found them not to my liking. I have the double layer RR and use a wide sleeping pad in between and that makes the lie even flatter. I tried my 21” pad and I would fall off it. I don’t know if it’s flat enough for me to stomach sleep,I have back issues and would probably regret trying it. I know it’s been said here before but it really was the best most comfortable sleep I’ve had in the BW.
