deerfoot: "I have several Duluth Pack “Monarch Brand” packs from the early 1970’s. Yours look like mine in terms how they were made, parts used, etc. Mine are marked on the back between the top of the shoulder straps. The round Duluth Pack leather patch on the front flap is a much newer addition to Duluth Packs. My understanding was the Monarch brand was Duluth Packs lower cost line of packs. when I bought mine in the 80's I bought one DP and one that was a lesser, lower cost DP pack, that has thinner material, non leather straps, and no DP leather patch, I don't recall if it was called "Monarch" but it has held up nicely all these years, While the "real" DP looks like it will last at least till 2120, the cheapo version has at least another 50-60 years left and might make it to 2120 too |

It was quite a E-mail chain after I initially contacted Duluth Pack customer service. It must have went through 4 or more people. Finially the CEO got back to me, quite impressed on Duluth Packs efforts to help me. Here is the last response. "Yes they are DP packs. Historically, many didn’t have round logo. Many will be ink stamped only and some don’t have anything on them. The roller buckles are a dead giveaway that they or ours." Probably from 70’s ish. Tom Sega President/CEO Duluth Pack |

LindenTree: "Mocha: "Do any have a hand written name on the front flap. It would be pretty faded. Maybe made with a black marker, but faded over time" Hey, that's my last name too. Cool story and history on those packs. |

Does anyone think they are worth more, like around $100 bucks a piece? |

inspector13: "Savage Voyageur: "Canal park is where they sell them. Go south about 2 miles from there in Duluth where they make them. Those are the people that can tell you about them. I forgot exactly where but a couple of miles south of the store. " Thats just down the road from my place, thanks. |

I am thinking about selling these packs, I have around five of them and they have not been used since 2007. Would anyone venture a guess what these packs would be worth? These two packs measure 26 x26 inches and 8-ish inches thick. One has the head strap. |

egknuti: "They look like Duluth Packs. I wonder if they had flaws or were prototypes and that’s why they don’t have emblems. " Some of the 50-60s ones had a “stamp” instead of a patch/logo. Perhaps the stamp has worn off from use? |

HowardSprague: "Other than no emblem, they sure look like it. I bet DuluthPack would get a kick out of seeing them if they are. Could always email them the photos and someone might know." Thanks Howard, I just e-mailed them. I guess I could walk them down to canal park since I am only a couple miles away. |
